US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that he sees no indication that Palestinian factions are planning any attack on American forces in Gaza. Austin said in a press conference: “I do not discuss intelligence on the platform, but I do not see any indications currently that there is an actual intention to do so.”
In another context, the US Central Command (Centcom) announced yesterday that it would temporarily stop construction of the floating dock on the Gaza coast, due to bad weather conditions in the Middle Sea. Centcom explained, in a statement on the “X” platform, that the pier will be transported with the ships participating in its construction to the Israeli port of Ashdod for completion, noting that it will return to its original location after its completion on the Gaza coast when the sea condition stabilizes.
She stated that “the expected strong winds and high sea waves caused unsafe conditions for the soldiers working on the surface of the partially constructed pier.” Yesterday, John Kirby, National Security spokesman at the White House, said that the pier being built by the US army to speed up the flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza would begin operating within days, despite the bad weather conditions.
