Ministry of the Interior, The Finnish Immigration Service and the Finnish Red Cross are organizing a press conference to help and receive people fleeing Ukraine in Finland. The event will begin at approximately 3 p.m. HS will show the event live on this news.

The Minister of the Interior will be present at the event Krista Mikkonen (Green), Director General Minna Hulkkonen from the Ministry of the Interior, Deputy Head of the Finnish Immigration Service Elina Immonen and a representative of SPR. There are also other experts on site.

EU last week, interior ministers decided to introduce a directive on temporary protection. This means that refugees from Ukraine receive a temporary residence permit entitling them to work for one year or up to three years throughout the EU. The residence permit also opens up the right to schooling and health care.
