On September 14, it became known about the liberation of Nikolaevka and Nikolaevka Second not far from Artemovsk (aka Bakhmut). As military expert Vladislav Shurygin told Izvestia, the control of the liberated villages would make it difficult to supply the Ukrainian group in Artemovsk, which are located on one of the roads leading to the city.
Earlier, on September 12, Izvestia correspondent Denis Kulaga reported that the allied forces approached the suburb of Bakhmut and occupied the industrial zone of the city. Ukrainian fighters tried to launch a counteroffensive near Artyomovsk (renamed Bakhmut) on the same day, but the allied forces were able to repulse attempts to go on the offensive.
