Robinson Chalapud (Banco Guayaquil) won the stage of the Vuelta a Colombia disputed between Guateque and Santa Rosa de Viterbo, over 182 kilometers, a fraction in which Fabio Duarte (Team Medellín) kept the first place in the general classification on his birthday.
Duarte put his team to work in search of controlling the competition, something that was fulfilled to the letter, after the strategy outlined by the coach, José Luis Velásquez.

Eight kilometers from the finish, the lot captured the escapees and faced the last part of a long day, which served to give Duarte peace of mind.
Team Medellín, in the best style of Chris Froome’s Sky in his time, He stepped up to the third category climb at the end of the stage and blew up the group.
The pace was devilish in the last five kilometers and the package was selected, it hurt among most of the rivals, who felt the hard step.
One of those affected was Bernardo Suaza (Supergyros), who is third overall and could not stand the strong pace imposed by the yellow jersey team.
“The Vuelta has been local. Cycling is like that and I had to enjoy it. There was a leak. For four days I began to attack in search of the discount. In the end we were given the stage,” Chalapud said.
And I add: “The race is high level. That has been shown in this Vuelta, because there are a lot of people who are doing well. Duarte and his team are superior.”
This Sunday the Vuelta ends with the 41-kilometre time trial section between Paipa and Tunja.
