The Russians took the news about the partial mobilization tensely and warily, while most of them reacted to this decision of the president with understanding. This was stated in an interview with Izvestia by the Director General of the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) Valery Fedorov.
“They were tense, wary. If we know that the majority of Russians support a special military operation and already have a formed opinion, then the issue of mobilization is new and not very clear. Nevertheless, the majority of Russians were sympathetic to the president’s decision. It is heavy, but necessary,” said Valery Fedorov.
The head of VTsIOM also recalled that the last mobilization was during World War II.
On September 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a partial mobilization. He drew attention to the fact that only citizens who are currently in the reserve will be subject to military service, and above all those who served in the Armed Forces, have certain military specialties and relevant experience.
