Vingegaard, serious fall at the Tour of the Basque Country: taken away in an ambulance. “He’s conscious”
Maxi group fall 35 kilometers from the arrival of the fourth stage of the Tour of the Basque Country, the Etxarri Aranatz-Legutio which involved among others Remco Evenepoel, Primoz Roglic and above all Jonas Vingegaard who got the worst of it. The winner of the last two Tours de France ended up at the edge of a roadside drainage ditch and probably also hit a road sign.
The cyclist was transported to hospital on a stretcher with a collar and oxygen mask. The Dane, however, is fully conscious.

Evenepoel, however, who suffered a problem with his right collarbone, and Roglic got up but abandoned. Jay Vine (UAE Emirates) also remained in a ditch for many minutes before being transported to hospital. The race was neutralized to help the injured but then the jury, 20 km from the finish, allowed the six breakaway riders to close it for the stage victory. In the end the winner was the South African Louis Meintjes.
