The Argentine national team qualified for the semi-finals of the 2024 Copa América after a penalty shoot-out in which they beat a fierce Ecuador. “Dibu” Martínez was once again the great hero, stopping two penalties.
The curiosity arose when Lionel Messi missed the first penalty of the series. The “10” chipped it but the ball bounced off the crossbar, to the surprise of all the spectators. Luckily for him, the “Dibu” saved it and then everyone could celebrate.

In the 90 minutes, Ecuador was probably better than Argentina and could have taken the victory. The 1-1 scoreline went to penalties and that was when Martínez showed again why he is one of the best in the world, if not the best.
In the semi-finals, the Scaloneta awaits its opponent: this Friday, Canada and Venezuela will face each other for a place among the best four in the tournament.
