The referee's decision generated great controversy. The images showed that the contact between both players was at the edge of the area, so many considered that it should have been a penalty and not a direct red card.

Araujo's expulsion left Barça with one less player and a very complicated outlook for the second half. With one less man, Barça will be forced to defend tooth and nail.
