Given this, the SV De Valken issued a statement in which they expressed their disagreement with the incident and reported the situation to the Dutch Football Federation. “Others will have to judge whether it is normal for a referee to exuberantly celebrate St. George’s well-deserved championship,” he said.
Daan Schippers, spokesperson for the federation, made a statement in this regard, in a disappointed tone, in which he assured that the federation always “expects a neutral attitude from the referee and that both teams are treated with respect.” After this, he announced that he had already contacted the referee to let him know the sanction: he will not be able to be a judge in any other match from now on.
