Subscription services dedicated to video games continue to rise in price in Latin America. Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation Plus and more recently EA Play are examples of that. And now it's the turn of GTA+ from Rockstar Games.
From 2022 this service with exclusive content for Grand Theft Auto Online had maintained its monthly rate of $5.99 dollars (MX$99.69). But that changed and now it is $7.99 (MX$132.98).
This is another increase that hits the pockets of video game fans. It should be noted that the updated rate is being charged to those who acquire this service for the first time.
We recommend: GTA VI: actor has just denied one of the most popular fan theories.
Those who were affiliated before will begin to pay it on June 11, 2024. At first glance, a 33% increase does not seem like much for those who live in Mexico. But things are not looking good for other nations, as is the case of Argentina.
You just have to take a look at how much the GTA+ Xbox Series X|S subscription is now worth to realize it. We are talking about 6,670 Argentine pesos and before it only cost 500, which made it much more accessible.
That is an increase of more than 1,200% and taxes are not even taken into account. Those who enjoy video games in Argentina are not alone in that sense. In Colombia things also got worse.
Originally, GTA+ cost 17,800 Colombian pesos. Now the monthly payment is… 31 thousand 150! It is not an increase as huge as that of Argentina but 75% scares anyone. This upward trend in the cost of video game services is discouraging to anyone.
But it's hard to say whether there will be those willing to pay such prices or whether Rockstar Games will find it makes less revenue from Latin America.
