In a video made to explain the effect of the increase in its provisions for labor claims, Via claims that the 32% increase in the values of these actions is related to an old company practice of taking cases to the higher courts of law, which generates highest correction of values. In addition, the company argues that “a large part of the amounts provisioned is the responsibility of former partners”.
In 2022, the company estimates that, for every R$1 in provision, it will be able to recover R$1 from former partners or tax credits. From 2023 to 2026, the expectation is to recover BRL 3.50 from former partners and tax credits for every BRL 1 in the provision.
The company clarifies that its processes had been reduced. Today the company has 22 thousand processes in progress, but the figure was already 43 thousand. The company does not specify what types of accusations are made against it and alleges that, in the country, there are “encouragers” who specialize in convincing employees to file lawsuits. The company also says that the increase in layoffs in the last ten years brings a “natural” increase in lawsuits.
