Now only Singapore is missing
In 2019 when the 1000th GP in the history of F1 took place in China Max Verstappen he had only five victories under his belt. Five years later, on the eve of the Shanghai weekend, the Red Bull driver presented himself with the beauty of 57 successes in the Circus which became 58 after the success achieved yesterday in China. The Chinese Grand Prix was one of the two missing for Verstappen who has won in all the other stages currently included in the calendar.
Now the Dutch driver is just missing Singapore, a track on which he has never managed to impose himself. Red Bull worked in the winter to further broaden the operating window of the RB20 to make it more competitive on street circuits, which a year ago were more difficult than it seemed for the RB19 which was unable to find the key to the problem in the Marina Bay weekend.
In a press conference, Max Verstappen, asked if he particularly wanted to win in China, responded like this: “This was definitely a race I wanted to win. I had already been on the podium in Shanghai, but I had never won. I enjoyed the whole weekend, the car was fantastic and we managed to progressively improve it. The race was demanding and the neutralizations made it more complicated because we had to manage two restarts and review the strategy, we managed to keep everything under control and it was very satisfying.”
