The 'anti-Verstappen' alliance
Once upon a time in motorsport (and not only) the saying “If you can't beat them, join them“. The sensational marriage between Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari, which will be celebrated in 2025, has partially changed this maxim. The two great losers of the last three seasons join forces to try together to get the better of those who have beaten them without interruption since 2021: Max Verstappen.
The Dutchman, for his part, enjoys his new and fascinating Red Bull RB20. Presented yesterday by the Milton Keynes team, Adrian Newey's latest creation immediately 'frightened' enthusiasts and professionals due to its futuristic shapes. What happened last February 1st, however, with the announcement of the future partnership between the most successful driver and team in history, could not have gone unnoticed even in the headquarters of the world champion team.
Cool combination
Thus Verstappen himself, during a long interview given to the official F1 website, addressed the sensational transfer 'bomb' that featured its main antagonist in the Circus, with which the rivalry has never completely subsided since that incredible 2021 season: “If a winning driver like Lewis wants to go to Ferrari and it is his dream, you have to accept it. I hope for them that they will win, but who knows. Of course, Hamilton at Ferrari will be 'cool'“.
The feeling, however, is that the Dutchman is not particularly upset by the new 'alliance'. Looking to the future instead – at least for the moment – the three-time world champion doesn't seem 'tempted' by the idea of wearing red. However, as he himself says, “never say never“. “I have a lot of respect for the Ferrari brand – concluded Verstappen – but now I'm happy where I am. I feel good in Red Bull and today I don't want to change teams. Of course, never say never in life. But such a move is not in my thoughts at all. And then we're only talking about Formula 1. Maybe one day I'll race elsewhere. And I have other interests in life“.
