The Mercedes sirens
Despite yet another weekend to forget, Toto Wolff he tried to instill confidence in Mercedes, already thinking about the updates to bring to the track in Miami, with the hope of seeing a solid step forward. Certainly one Mercedes thus it seems to be very unattractive for Max Verstappen, should the Dutchman actually consider the option of leaving Red Bull due to the internal power struggle within the team.
Wolff doesn't give up
In the press conference at the end of the Chinese Grand Prix weekend, Toto Wolff returned to the topic of Verstappen, providing an interesting analysis: “There are many factors that play a role in whether or not a rider arrives. Clearly, looking at things from a rational point of view, it can be stated that the fastest car is in the hands of the fastest driver. But I don't think this can be the only reason to stay where you are. Let's say that for the simple minds this might be enough to stay on a team. But perhaps we need to go deeper, especially for the type of people who are also looking for other things. And I really believe that Max has this characteristic.”
Toto Wolff then continued: “I don't think it's a question of convincing him to move to Mercedes. I think Max knows racing better than anyone and he will make the best decision. And in this sense There are several factors that play a role. He is the first domino in the market, everyone is waiting to know what he will do.”. The Austrian then concluded: “If I were him I would stay at Red Bull for 2025. But I'm not Max. If there is a possibility of having it in 2025? If I answered, I would ruin my entire strategy“, Wolff closed with a smile.
