Max’s boredom
The Monegasque Sunday of Max Verstappen it was full of boredom. Over the radio several times the Dutchman from the Red Bull team joked with her pit wall, inviting the team to provide him with a pillow so he can take a nap. It was impossible to change his sixth starting position – which in fact remained so until the final passage under the checkered flag – even more so with the initial red flag which allowed all four leading drivers to reach the finish line without needing change the tires.
Yawns aside, Verstappen wanted after the race paying a classy homage to the success of his contemporary Charles Leclercwho was finally able to break the curse that had always kept him away from the podium on the Monaco track despite having already achieved two pole positions, in 2021 and 2022.
Applause to the winner
This time, however, it was a good one for the Ferrari driver, who started in front of everyone and remained in command of the race for all 78 laps. “He did everything right this weekend – Verstappen told journalists after the GP, obviously referring to Leclerc – he’s had a lot of bad luck in the last few years, so I’m definitely happy for him“.
Regarding his own race, however, the three-time world champion used one good dose of irony to comment on it: “It was from the 20th lap that I had to go to the bathroom – joked Verstappen – that was probably the hardest thing about the race“. A clear message: the weekend in the Principality for #1 Hasselt will be one to quickly forget.
