Even Verstappen sweats to win
From May onwards, the dominant Red Bull has become a page of the past. The Milton Keynes team was approached, and sometimes joined, by McLaren And Ferrariwhile in Canada Mercedes also joined the party, although the competitiveness of the Brackley team must be put to the test at least on a more traditional circuit like Montmeló.
These grand prix, however, fell prey to Max Verstappen on two occasions out of four (Imola and Montreal), and also in Miami the Dutchman came in second place. In short, in very fluid conditions (Red Bull which seems to be ceilinged, rivals who are growing) the three-time world champion remains a stainless certainty. And now he seems to be enjoying himself even more than in the phenomenal 2023, when he won on 19 out of 22 occasions.
Verstappen’s words
“I think it’s good for Formula 1 that there are many different teams fighting for victory. It makes the race really exciting“, he admitted to the British Sky Sports UK. “It’s very pleasant, although I would like a little more comfort in the car, because at the moment it is certainly very difficult to drive“.
With the victory in Montreal, Verstappen has reached 60 victories in Formula 1. The Dutchman is increasingly third alone in this ranking and is -31 behind Michael Schumacher: with this pace he can reach him in three years, provided he have a Red Bull that knows how to react in times of difficulty and is therefore capable of fighting for victory.
