Venezuela criticizes boycott of Lavrov’s UN speech

Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez criticized the boycott by a number of delegations of an online speech by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the United Nations. She wrote about it in her Twitter-account.

Rodriguez noted that the common house of human rights promotes hatred and intolerance towards Russia. She stressed that the same people responsible for the real crisis in Ukraine are doing it. The Vice President added that Venezuela is joining in the promotion of dialogue for peace.

The politician also published on the social network a video of one of the journalists about how diplomats leave the meeting room as a sign of a boycott during Lavrov’s speech during the Conference on Disarmament and the UN Human Rights Council.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken proposed to exclude Russia from the UN Human Rights Council. In his opinion, if “one UN member state tries to seize power over another UN member state,” it should be expelled from the Council.
