ValorantRiot Games’ hit shooter, , has now arrived on PS5 and Xbox Series X | S, four years after the PC version was released. The game will obviously have some competition on consoles as well as PC, from games like Marvel Rival and Concord.
Riot Games, however, is not afraid of competition at all.
Riot Games’ Words on Valorant
Speaking to GamesRadar+, Riot Games’ production director and product lead for Valorant, Arnar Hrafn Gylfason, said that “we don’t think about [Valorant] like a hero-based shooter. After all, we are a tactical shooterIt happens to us [semplicemente] to have agents with abilities,” which in itself “gives us a lot of freedom and leeway to create any kind of gameplay and creative experience.”
He goes on to say, “At our core, we are one very serious tactical shooterquite challenging and competitive. I think this is a different way to meet the needs of the hero action shooters that we’ve seen in this space in recent years. And we also see that in the way that players present themselves. We’re not saying one is better than the other, but that they serve different needs and different motivations of players.”
Gylfason concludes that ultimately, even in an increasingly crowded genre, “I think there is room for everyone“. Obviously the direct competitors hope so.
As a reminder, Concord will be available on PS5 and PC from August 23.
