The 35,000 runners who had long sold out registrations for one of the most popular marathons in the world, the Valencia Marathon, can breathe easy. After days of suspense after the devastating effects of DANA at the end of October, the organization of the test has confirmed this Friday that the race will be held on the scheduled date, on the morning of Sunday, December 1.
A couple of weeks ago, the organization of the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Zurich Marathon had taken a period of reflection after the very serious floods that had affected the province of Valencia. This period of weighing pros and cons has ended up opting for yes. “Luckily, as always happens, after every storm comes sunrise. That is why we want to share with you that on December 1, Valencia awaits you to celebrate a marathon that will be much more than a race,” the organization has stated. “It will be a hug to this wounded city and a promise of recovery, a moment in which sport becomes hope and help for those who need it most,” they added. The organizers want the marathon to serve as help for those who have suffered the most from the impact of DANA.
Three help lines are established for those affected by DANA
In this sense, three lines of fundraising will be opened for the reconstruction of sports areas and sports schools in the affected areas. The first, which will come from the organization itself, which will donate 3 euros for each runner who reaches the finish line. The second, that of the sponsors. And the third, that of the runners or any person who wishes to join through a zero number on the donation platform enabled for this.
Valencia will have its marathon, with a route that happens to be one of the fastest and most favorable in the world. Although this time it will be much more important as a symptom of recovery and return to normality.
