The second edition of ChipNation, the national congress of the semiconductor industry, arrives in Valencia this week with the aim of “strengthening the semiconductor ecosystem in Spain and positioning it as a key player within the European and global framework.”
Organized by the Spanish Association of the Semiconductor Industry (AESEMI) and Valencia Silicon Cluster (VaSiC), Congress wants to vindicate the strategic importance of this sector for the economy and technological sovereignty for two days, which will be held this Monday and Tuesday at the CaixaForum in Valencia, they reported in a statement.
Under the motto “European Chips Act & PERTE CHIP: The moment of truth”the Congress will address the main lines of development of the sector and will debate the future of the European Chip Act, the Draghi Report, national strategies, sustainability, knowledge transfer and international collaboration.
The objective is “to be a decisive forum to debate the opportunities offered by the “semiconductors in the global economy and their role in the technological transformation of Spain”; and will feature the former president of the Taiwanese TSMC for more than a decade, the Valencian María Merced.
The mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá; the regional secretary of Industry, Commerce and Consumption of the Generalitat, Felipe Carrasco; and the general secretary of Innovation of the Ministry of Science and Innovation, Teresa Riesgo, will be in charge of open the eventwhile the Minister of Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Marian Cano, will conclude the first day.
The event, which will also feature on the 3rd the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure, Antonio Hernando, will feature the participation of influential figures such as the CEO of SemidynamicsRoger Espasa; Maxlinear Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Leonard Dauphinee; or the general director of the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT), Javier Ponce.
Likewise, there will be a round table dedicated to the structuring of the Spanish ecosystemwith the director of the Barcelona Microelectronics Institute, Luis Fonseca; the INL Business Director, Paula Galvão; or the technical director of SETT, Guillermo Gómez; in addition to another on the need for collaboration between the academic field and the industrial sector, another of the axes of the congress.
For its part, another of the axes will be the visit of great Spanish business leaders, with the forum “Chips Design Executive”, with the former president of the Taiwanese company TSMC María Merced, the vice president of Analog Devices, Martin Cotter; or the vice president of R&D at ams-OSRAM Thomas Troxler.
This Congress is “a key opportunity to showcase talent and progress that are being achieved both locally and nationally,” explained the president of the Valencia Silicon Cluster (VaSiC), Mayte Bacete.
