The United States Senate approved this Tuesday, April 23, the $95 billion aid package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan that had already been endorsed by the Lower House. With this green light, all that remains is the promulgation by President Joe Biden – who has already confirmed that he will sign it – for the sending of the money, after months of legislative blockade. The initiative also includes an ultimatum for TikTok before being banned in the country.

After months of tense negotiations, the US Congress finally adopted, on Tuesday, April 23, a million-dollar aid plan for Ukraine. The $95 billion package, which also includes funding for Israel, Taiwan and an ultimatum to TikTok, was approved by the Senate.
The gigantic military and economic assistance program, requested for months by President Joe Biden, has bipartisan support and was approved on Saturday, April 20 in the House of Representatives, the scene of long and difficult negotiations.
This Tuesday, the Senate gave it support of 75 votes in favor, with 20 against.
The Senate brought together in a single text four bills that the House of Representatives approved last Saturday.
On the one hand, 61,000 million dollars in military aid for Ukraine, another 26,400 for Israel and 8,100 for Taiwan.
A fourth bill seeks to force TikTok's owner to sell the company within nine months or face a ban in the United States.
Specifically, ByteDance is required to divest the US assets of the popular short video application within that period.
“Finally, tonight, after more than six months of hard work, the United States is sending a message to the entire world,” Chuck Schumer, Democratic leader in the US Senate, said after the vote.
According to Schumer, with this vote the US tells the world that “it will do everything possible to safeguard democracy.”
The White House has been asking the Legislature for months to jointly approve these military aid packages, but the opposition of Republican sectors to assistance to Ukraine has caused a long blockade.
A minority part of the Democratic group rejected the aid package to Israel.
Iran's attack on Israel two Saturdays ago caused the Republican leadership in the House of Representatives to lift its block on jointly approving foreign military aid packages.
Now all that is needed is the signature of President Joe Biden for money and weapons to begin flowing to Ukraine, whose president, Volodymyr Zelensky, has been insisting for this aid for months in the face of the advance of Russian troops.
Biden spoke by phone on Monday with Zelensky, who after the call and in a message on the social networkThis assistance will include long-range artillery.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine two years ago, the United States has channeled more than $75 billion in military aid.
