New York, 27 – The Agriculture Committee of the United States House of Representatives approved its version of the North American agricultural law, known as the Farm Bill, on Thursday (23) night. The legislation, however, still has a long way to go before it is enacted.
“We applaud the bipartisan approval after 13 hours of fierce debate, but we know that narrow margins in both Houses and a busy Congressional calendar will present challenges in the next legislative steps,” American Agricultural Federation President Zippy Duvall said in a statement. The bill should only go to plenary in the Chamber in September.
The Farm Bill is the country’s main legislation for agricultural and nutrition policies and is in effect for five years. The law approved by Congress in 2018 expired on September 30, 2023, but an extension was granted until September 30 of this year. Source: Dow Jones Newswires.
