Nine innocent people are killed in clashes between the US-led coalition and the IS terrorist militia. Washington confirms an anti-terrorist mission.
Damascus – According to Syrian sources, several civilians died in a US military operation in the civil war country.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that nine civilians, including two children, were killed in heavy fighting in the north-west between the US-led coalition and the Islamic State (IS) terrorist militia. The military coalition also bombed targets north of the Idlib region. The fighting continued into the night.
The US Department of Defense confirmed an anti-terrorist mission with US Army special forces. “The mission was successful,” it said in a statement. The Pentagon did not initially give any further details.
In the civil war country Syria, a military coalition led by the USA is fighting the terrorist militia Islamic State (IS). In the summer of 2014, IS took control of large areas in northern Iraq. Shortly thereafter, the jihadists proclaimed a caliphate that also included regions in neighboring Syria. The terrorist militia was defeated militarily in March 2019, but is still active in both countries and repeatedly carries out attacks. dpa
