US intelligence chief Haynes: China is helping Russia behind the scenes amid special operation
Director of National Intelligence Avril Haynes said that the Chinese authorities are providing assistance to Russia behind the scenes against the backdrop of a military special operation in Ukraine. With the corresponding accusation, she spoke at a forum in Washington, writes TASS.
She noted that Beijing is in a “very uncomfortable position” because, unlike many US allies, it tries not to publicly take a critical stance against Moscow. “And at the same time, we see that they help Russia in various ways behind the scenes, sometimes more obviously or less obviously,” said the head of US national intelligence.
Earlier it became known that the US Department of Commerce blacklisted (entity list) five Chinese companies – Connec Electronic, King Pai Technology, Sinno Electronics, Winninc Electronic and World Jetta (HK) Logistics – for cooperation with the Russian army after the start of a special operation in Ukraine .
Prior to this, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin had warned their Chinese counterparts that Washington would take drastic measures if Beijing provided Moscow with any military assistance.
