RIA Novosti: US flags were spotted at a march against the law on foreign agents in Tbilisi
In Georgia, American flags were spotted at a march against the law on foreign agents. Photos from the protest march in Tbilisi are published RIA News.
As the agency reports, the march participants are heading to the Ministry of Internal Affairs building. In the crowd, in addition to the US flags, there are also flags of the European Union and Ukraine.
On May 14, the Georgian parliament adopted the controversial law “On Transparency of Foreign Influence,” which provides for registration in a separate register of non-profit organizations and media that receive more than 20 percent of their income from abroad. In the third reading, the document was supported by more than 80 deputies, while 30 people spoke out against it.
A few days later, on May 18, the President of the Republic, Salome Zurabishvili, announced a veto on the document. She stated that this law “in its essence and spirit is Russian” and contradicts the Constitution of Georgia and European standards.
