The US Department of Commerce (Ministry of Commerce) has included in the list of legal entities that threaten US national security, two companies from Israel, as well as one from Russia and Singapore. This is reported on website departments.
Israeli IT organizations NSO Group and Candiru have been recognized as threats to national security due to evidence of their participation in the creation and distribution of Pegasus spyware. The Ministry of Trade cites information that both companies “supplied spyware to foreign governments who used these tools to attack officials, journalists, businessmen, activists, scientists and embassy staff.” All this, according to the position of the department, is contrary to international law.
Positive Technologies company from Russia and PTE consulting. LTD. from Singapore have come under restrictions due to the use of cyber tools that open unauthorized access to information. The US Department of Commerce ruled that this practice “threatens the privacy and security of individuals and organizations around the world.”
“The United States is committed to aggressively using export controls to prosecute companies that develop, distribute, or use technology to conduct malicious acts,” said US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo.
According to the explanation of the Ministry of Trade, for organizations that are included in the list of threats to the US national security, stricter licensing rules are being introduced in the country. The export, re-export and sale of the goods of these companies within the American jurisdictions is also restricted.
On November 2, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov, on behalf of the Russian government, proposed to Washington the mutual nullification of sanctions against the activities of diplomatic missions of both countries. He also allowed the rest of the sanctions to be lifted in the future.
