The United States agreed to expand its military presence in Australia and cooperation between the countries. This was announced on Tuesday, December 6, by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
“Today we agreed to deepen our defense cooperation in several important areas,” he said.
According to Austin, the results of the talks will increase the rotational presence of US forces in Australia.
“This concerns the rotational presence of operational air groups of bombers, fighters and the future rotational presence of the forces of the Navy and the Army [Сухопутных войск] United States,” the minister said.
To ensure the effectiveness of joint work, Australia and the United States also agreed to expand cooperation in the field of logistics and logistics.
In addition, the countries came to an agreement to expand trilateral defense cooperation with Japan.
The parties also advocated the preservation of an international order based on rules, within which the parties would be free to determine the course of their development, and any differences would be resolved peacefully and without coercion.
Earlier, on November 30, the Pentagon Intelligence Agency (DIA) announced the creation of an analytical and expert group to track China’s activities, the full work of which will begin in early 2023. It is noted that thanks to the work of this group, Pentagon intelligence will receive an archive with data on China and its advanced technologies.
