Americans Publish New Microprocessor Export Directive That Prevents Chinese Access
The new export directive on chips imposed by the United States last Friday (7.Oct.2022) was considered abusive by the Chinese government. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Saturday (Oct 8) that the new export controls are designed to maintain “American technological hegemony.
“The US will only hurt itself and isolate itself when its actions backfire”, Mao told the press. Washington included in the package a measure that prevents China from accessing microprocessors made with American technology, regardless of where they are made.
In September, the US Department of Commerce released details of the plan to invest $50 billion in building a domestic semiconductor industry. The project is a measure to fight China in this market.
according to New York Times, about $28 billion will go towards grants and loans to help build chip manufacturing and packaging facilities; $10 billion to technology expansion and $11 billion to research initiatives.
