Urso: “Minimum target of 200,000 cars in Mirafiori” | FormulaPassion

The Minister of Business and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso returns to talk about car production in Italy in reference to Stellantis. And he does so by focusing mainly on the Mirafiori complex, defining “minimum wage” the production target of 200,000 vehicles per year. The minister in question spoke on the eve of the Stellantis CEO meeting Carlos Tavares at Mirafiori with the metalworkers' unions.

“I expect Tavares to accept the invitation of the Piedmont trade unions, which was also expressed at the table held here at the ministry: we want to make cars in Mirafiori capable of producing in that plant at least 200,000 units per year, even more so in light of the new models that Stellantis is presenting to the market. Tavares and the unions

Urso himself defined this last statement as the “right answer that Tavares can give in the place where the Italian car was born to the unions of Piedmont, to the city of Turin and to the region”. Subsequently, the Minister of Business and Made in Italy returned to talk about a second automotive manufacturer in Italy: “Car manufacturers that do not produce in Europe intend to produce in Europe for the European continent, and in this context our country is one of those with the greatest possibility of attracting investments also in the automotive sector because we are the only European producing country of cars that have only one manufacturer”.

On the hunt for a second producer

In any case, the situation is not flowery, as recognized by Urso himself: “In Italy there is a delta between car production and registrations very broada gap that exists nowhere else in Europe must be filled with those who intend to produce in our country, and this is why several car manufacturers from other continents have approached our ministry with the intention of evaluating the possibility of investing and producing here”.
