In the last few hours, a resident of Caguas, Puerto Rico, reported to the authorities that he had been robbed by a man who introduced himself as “Jesús Cristo Rey.”
The news quickly went viral on the island and the authorities are already investigating what happened. So far they have not found the criminal.

According to the woman, it all started when she received a call from an unknown number on her cell phone. The person assured him that it was Jesus, the Catholic figure, and that he was in a bind.
According to the scammer, he was stuck at Miami International Airport and needed the woman’s help immediately. The excuse was that he had to pay an extra price for the luggage.
The Puerto Rican did not suspect that it was a scam and proceeded to send money. He went to the Western Union company, where he transferred 500 dollars to the data provided by the alleged messiah.
It was not until after the consignment that the woman realized that she had been robbed. The case happened last Friday, July 8, but was hardly reported this week.
The Caguas district police referred the judicial process to the Property and Fraud Division of the Criminal Investigations Corps.

Other scams in the region
Reports of this type of theft in Puerto Rico are becoming more and more common. Through calls, messages, social networks and even cryptocurrencies, criminals have found a way to infiltrate the lives of their victims.
Recently, a man, also from Caguas, went to the authorities after being scammed on Instagram. The man acquired a vacation plan that he found in an account of this network.
The promotion included hotel and tickets to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The victim made a $1,250 transfer through a banking app on her phone and never heard from the sellers again.
Something similar happened to another person in the same municipality. He hired a door company to make one for his house and apparently the company was just a front for scams. The man deposited 878 dollars and immediately lost contact with his victimizers.
The Caguas Police assured that they are already investigating these events.
