The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said yesterday that the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip mainly targets women.
The agency explained on the “X” platform that “the war in Gaza is still a war against women.”
She pointed out that more than 10,000 women were killed and 19,000 others were injured as a result of the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip for about 7 months.
The UN agency said that 37 children lose their mothers every day.
She stressed that “conditions in the Gaza Strip are horrific, as more than 155,000 pregnant or breastfeeding women face extreme difficulty in obtaining water and sanitary supplies.”
Hours ago, the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that the death toll from the war had risen to 34,622 dead and 77,867 injured.
Yesterday, the Regional Director of the United Nations Development Programme, Abdullah Al-Dardari, said that the Israeli attacks on Gaza caused the worst destruction the Strip has witnessed since World War II. Al-Dardari added: “We have not witnessed such destruction since 1945 – since World War II – and we have not witnessed such force in such a short time, and the magnitude of the massive destruction.”
