Dark matter
FBRS are the most elusive and powerful signals ever detected in space. And, although there was some suspicion about its origin, they are more likely to have a natural origin, although for now it is unknown what could be.
In April 2020 something exceptional happened. The first FRB was detected within our galaxy, and not hundreds or billions of light years away, as was the case with all the previous ones. Which allowed to track it to a magnetar, a strange type of star corpse, called SGR 1935 + 2154. The outbreak, detected by several radio telescopes around the world, was so powerful that the instruments did not even measure their intensity. The signal, according to the researchers, was at least one million times stronger than the rest of the FRBS detected so far, and the first detected within the Milky Way.
After long months of analysis, a new study fresh in The Astrophysical Journal Letters He confirms that the FRB proceeds, indeed, from the Magnetar SGR 1935 + 2154, a “star corpse” that is some 30,000 light years, within our own galaxy. Which led to think that other frb could also have a similar origin.
