In the late 90’s and early 2000’s we saw many action sagas emerge to gain an audience, among them was The Matrix, Mission Impossibleand clearly The Mummywhich made the actor’s career Brendan Fraser would be catapulted. And although an attempt was made to make a revival, it failed miserably, leaving the intellectual property in the freezer for quite some time.
According to what is mentioned by the film media, Universal They are interested in returning the saga, given that after a certain time of not making a film the rights may be lost so that someone can acquire them and make a new version, so they do not want that to happen. However, it is said that unfortunately the actor who made her famous would not be part of the project, despite having a genuine interest in continuing on the part of the latter, who despite having serious films wants to take a break.
And what they intend to do with the return of the franchise is presumably to create a prequel in which the characters we met do not appear, but rather the past of who became the main villain of the saga will be shown, and probably with a different actor. So if fans were hoping to see him again Fraser in action, unfortunately it will not be possible in the following years.
It is worth mentioning that this alleged tape would be part of the Dark Universe, company tapes that want to handle projects independently but that could somehow have a connection for the enjoyment of the public that wants to notice references. Likewise, they continue to receive money from disney for the new films where they intend to include Hulk as avengerssince they still have the rights to the character and as long as the character is used they will not lose them despite not making movies about it.

Author’s note: The truth is that it would be very good to have the return of The Mummy, even with the actors who made it famous beyond Brenda Fraser. However, Universal puts a lot of priority on other things like Fast and Furious.
