Likewise, through a statement, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) reported that during the session of the Technical Council this afternoon, the former person in charge of combating this type of case had the use of the floor for about an hour, after which determined his dismissal as president and as dean of the Council of the Faculty of Law.
Similarly, the highest house of studies pointed out, López Betancourt was provisionally suspended from teaching activities, as a precautionary measure and as a safeguard for the physical and psychological integrity of Lourdes “N”, whom he allegedly harassed.
While finally the UNAM stressed that Everardo Moreno Cruz will be in his place as head of the University Court and the Technical Council of the Faculty of Law, protesting today as dean and in the coming days as president of the court, after the Article 99 of the General Statute of UNAM gives the presidency of the organization to the dean of the legal school.
About the case
This Thursday, the control judge ordered López Betancourt to be linked to the process after ruling that “the investigation yields minimal, but sufficient, evidence of a sexual or lewd nature,” for which he gave the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office (FGJCDMX) ) a period of 45 days to conclude the complementary investigation.

However, the judge ruled for not removing the teacher from the position, since he considered that “it would be to advance the sentence without being sentenced.” Meanwhile, the academic is accused of having carried out two verbal attacks against the law student, which he and his defense denied and assured that she “is an exemplary person.”
