Ukraine won the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 on Saturday (14) with the song “Stefania”, a rap with folkloric touches by the group Kalush Orchestra, which gained strong popular support amid the Russian invasion of their country.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the group that took home the title. “Our courage impresses the world, our music conquers Europe!” he wrote on Facebook, praising the Kalush Orchestra after the group beat 24 other contestants.
In the contest, held in Turin, Italy, Ukraine prevailed against the United Kingdom and Spain, which took third place with the song “SloMo”, performed by the Cuban-born singer and dancer Chanel.
