Ukraine has used long-range missiles on Russian territory for the first time Storm Shadowsupplied by the United Kingdomas reported this Wednesday by British media.
The remains of one of the missiles have been found in the Russian region of Kurskbordering Ukraine, as published by a Russian military channel in Telegramwith photographs that identified it as one of the British artifacts, the newspaper reports Financial Times.
The reported use of the Storm Shadow in Russia occurs a day after Moscow assured that long-range US missiles had been launched on its territory.
A spokesperson for British Ministry of Defense has neither confirmed nor denied the news: “At this time, we are not going to comment, but we will inform you when there is news.”
Putin opens the door to a nuclear response
The Russian president, Vladimir Putinapproved this Tuesday a new doctrine that allows responses with nuclear weapons to conventional attacks that threaten the sovereignty of Russia and Belarus.
For its part, Downing Street – the British Prime Minister’s Office – has also not officially commented on the matter and, in line with its usual policy, has refused to comment on any change in policy on allowing Kyiv the use of long-range missiles in Russia.
Ukraine’s use of Storm Shadow missiles and equivalent Scalp missiles France was discussed in informal conversations between Western officials on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro this week, according to sources present in the conversations at Financial Times.
