Seven people were injured, including two children, the toll from theattack launched during the night against the Ukrainian city of Odessa. In reporting the news, the Defense Forces operating in the southern part of the country specified that two children were among the injured. At least 14 apartments were damaged following the drone attack. The news was reported this morning by the Kyiv Independent which also reports that the Ukrainian air defense units destroyed 15 of 16 Shahed-type drones that Russia launched during the night against the country's territory.
The Russian drones were launched from Cape Chauda, in Crimea, and from the Kursk oblast, which borders Ukraine, the air force said. Russia also launched two Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the Belgorod region. Drones were intercepted over Mykolaiv, Odessa, Kiev and Cherkasy. Mobile groups of the Ukrainian Air Force and anti-aircraft missile units repelled the attack, the source quoted by the Ukrainian newspaper said.
Several explosions were heard in Kiev at around 3.35am local time. Serhii Popko, head of the Kiev city military administration, said that all drones were destroyed by the defense. No casualties or damage were reported in the city.
