The Ukrainian Air Force announced today, Saturday, that Russia launched a total of 100 missiles and drones during the night of Friday, Saturday, targeting in particular energy facilities and power stations in Ukraine.
The Air Force reported that Russia “launched 53 missiles of different models and 47 attack drones,” noting that it was able to shoot down 35 missiles and 46 drones.
The Ukrainian Electricity Company said that two thermal power plants were damaged in the attack, without specifying their location.
The company said in a statement on the Telegram application, “It was another very difficult night for the Ukrainian energy sector. Russia struck two of our thermal power plants. There was severe damage to the equipment.”
She added that it was the sixth major attack of its kind on thermal power plants since mid-March.
Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galoshenko said that Russia targeted sites in five regions: Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovograd, Ivano-Frankivsk and Zaporizhya, which are areas extending from the eastern front lines to western Ukraine on the border with the European Union.
The ministry warned of the possibility of rationing electricity on Saturday evening as a result of the attacks.
In Moscow, the Russian Defense Ministry said, in its daily report, that it had carried out a strike “with long-range precision weapons targeting Ukrainian energy facilities that support the work of companies of the military-industrial complex.”
The ministry confirmed that these attacks came “in response to Kiev’s attempts to destroy Russian energy and transportation facilities.”
