Ukrainian Defense Minister: Will continue to fight in the Kursk area
Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin and his chief of staff Waleri Gerassimow had spoken of the alleged encirclement of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers after the Russian push on Sudscha. US President Donald Trump had asked the Kremlin boss for mild for these soldiers on Friday – Kiev has denied settlement several times since then.
Umjerow admitted the withdrawal to “more advantageous defense positions”, but also announced that Ukraine would continue to fight in the Kursk area – at least until it was reached on a ceasefire. This serves to prevent the advance of Russian troops in the Ukrainian area, he said.
Finally, the Ukrainians in the region have been massively pushed back. Cards of the General Staff in Kiev show only small Russian region west and south of Sudscha as Ukrainian.
