Vladimir Putin is said to have a large number of bunkers. But apparently the locations are not as secret as the secret service in Kiev says.
Moscow – The Ukraine War has made Russian President Vladimir Putin a feared man. He has been deploying his armed forces in the neighboring country for well over two years – most recently, the Kharkiv offensive in eastern Ukraine made headlines. Nuclear force exercises near the border also send clear signals to the international community. Not surprisingly, the likelihood that someone would want to take the Kremlin leader’s life is anything but small. This is how Vladimir Putin became more and more isolated.
The former secret service agent is said to rely on the use of doubles and to have a large number of secret retreats. A year ago, Putin’s secret hideout near Sochi was revealed, among other places. But the locations of other accommodations and bunkers are also said to be known. This was announced by the Ukrainian Defense Intelligence Service (DIU).
Secret locations of Putin’s bunker well known: “Hides like Count Dracula in these dungeons”
“The information about Putin’s bunker is known and is constantly updated. One of the Russian dictator’s code names is ‘Bunkernyi’,” Andrii Yusov, representative of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Service, said in a Ukrainian news broadcast on May 23. He went on to say that Putin would love the game, “like Count Dracula, who hides in these dungeons.” Yusov did not specify how many secret hiding places Ukraine has now collected information on – probably for strategic reasons.
The fact that Vladimir Putin probably has a certain degree of paranoia when it comes to his own security has been a concern in the media for years. In order to protect his own life, the Russian president is said to have considered numerous options and possible dangers. Investigation of the media company Sobesednik revealed in 2022 that Putin had not only started to spread an extensive chain of secret bunkers across the country with the outbreak of the Ukraine war. There is therefore a refuge for Vladimir Putin in almost every part of Russia. Editor-in-chief Oleg Roldugin explained at the time to the television station Dozhdthat the Kremlin chief would have two bunker systems, one official and one confidential.
Refuges in the Ukraine war: Putin’s bunkers are said to be further underground
As stated in the television interview at the time, the official bunker system was under the jurisdiction of the Russian President’s Main Directorate for Special Programs, an authority that reports directly to Vladimir Putin. In addition, there are a large number of bunker facilities that do not appear in the official documents. Their number is said to be significantly higher than the number of official accommodations. Conclusions about Putin’s bunker facilities could not be drawn. Sobesednik apparently drawn from documents relating to construction projects.
How Ukrainskaya Pravda reported at the time, there are said to be numerous bunkers in Moscow that are available to Putin in an emergency. Outside the capital, the network of systems will extend to the Ural Mountains and some will be up to 200 meters underground. He wrote in the spring of 2023 Business Insider also about building plans that pointed to Putin’s secret hiding places. Back then it was about a palace on the Black Sea. Below the facility there will be a widely networked bunker system that meets luxurious requirements. (fbu)
