UGT and CCOO postpone the bus and crane strike for DANA

The CCOO and UGT unions have postponed the general strike in buses and cranes that began on October 28 and that was going to continue for several more days in November and December, until a normal situation is recovered in the areas affected by DANA. .

CCOO explains that “road passenger transportation services by bus and self-propelled cranes are essential at this time,” which leads to suspending the strike, scheduled for its next date on November 11.

The Federation of Services, Mobility and Consumption of UGT explains that it has decided to temporarily suspend all planned actions to demand the application of early retirement in the sector due to the danger of continuing to drive beyond the age of 60 with dozens of travelers at their side. post.

“This decision is made in solidarity with the people affected by DANA in different autonomous communities, with a special impact on the Valencian Community. Right now, citizens and the State need to have all possible mobility and logistics resources. For that reason, it would be irresponsible to maintain a strike in the current context,” he justifies in a statement.

The union reiterates its pain for the loss of human life and its concern for the damage caused to homes, infrastructure and equipment. “For this reason, we understand that our obligation is to join forces and support the affected people,” he adds.

In the Valencian Community, the first day of strike last Monday, October 28, had 100% follow-up, which had a high impact on public transport in large cities like Valencia.

After the catastrophe caused by DANA in the region, mobility has already been strongly affected and up to three commuter lines (C1, C2 and C3) are still not operating, as well as the high speed line to Madrid, at the same time as the A -7 (main communication route of the Spanish Mediterranean arc) is cut off after the collapse of a viaduct.

After November 11, the next strike days were going to be November 28 and 29, December 5 and 9, and from December 23 onwards indefinitely if an agreement between unions and employers is not reached beforehand.

This Monday, the National Taxi Association (Antaxi) has already postponed the call for next November 13 that planned to hold a national mobilization to denounce the increase in the prices of insurance policies, given the effects of DANA in Valencia and Castilla-La Mancha.
