Video game publisher Ubisoft’s roadmap for this year couldn’t be clearer: Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin’s Creed Shadows. It is something that was known before the celebration of its Ubisoft Forward 2024 event and that has been confirmed once it has ended.
As is tradition, the French multinational has held its annual news event, but beyond the two titles mentioned, it has not presented anything really surprising. In fact, the only unknown announcement has been the new installment of the historical construction game series Anno.
Below, we review the highlights of Ubisoft Forward 2024.
Star Wars Outlaws
With less than three months until its release on August 30, it was to be expected that Ubisoft would spend a good amount of time on Star Wars Outlaws. This open world game set in the galactic saga will offer a wide variety of situations and this is what the editor wanted to show through an extensive video with gameplay. From space exploration and combat aboard a ship, to action scenes and chases on iconic planets like Tatooine.
Star Wars Outlaws is being developed by the Massive Entertainment studio, creators of The Divisionand will place its story between two of the classic episodes of the original trilogy, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. One of the great strengths of the title is, precisely, mixing Ubisoft’s experience in the open world genre with all the imagination of the universe created by Georges Lucas.

Year 117: Pax Romana
The veteran city-building game franchise will have a new installment set in the time of the Roman Empire. Year 117: Pax Romana It is being developed by Ubisoft Mainz and still does not have a release date beyond a generic 2025. Obviously, it will come out for PC, but it will also have versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Ubisoft has closed its event with a new look at Assassin’s Creed Shadowsits most successful franchise that this year will return with a new setting long requested by fans: feudal Japan. The story will be set in the year 1579, a time in which the Japanese country is on the way to a unification process and, as a new feature within the saga, will allow the player to control two characters with two very different styles: a ninja warrior called Naoe and a powerful African samurai named Yasuke.
Precisely, the video that was shown at the event has emphasized the differences that players will find when controlling the two characters. While Yasuke will use a direct and brutal style, Naoe will act with stealth. This new installment is being developed by Ubisoft Quebec (Assassin’s Creed Odyssey) and its release date is scheduled for November 15 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
