In the history of countries, the more deep and rooted relations are, the more mature and influential results are associated with them. This is achieved by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, through his visit to the sisterly Sultanate of Oman.
Embodying this approach, His Highness said, expressing the specificity of the Emirati-Omani relations and their historical depth: “The UAE and Oman are deep-rooted brothers and extended relations that days only increase in strength, strength and love.”
This saying bears the fragrance of extended history and stems from the legacy of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace, when he made his first visit to the Sultanate in 1968, and the outcome of this visit was the establishment of the Joint Higher Committee for Cooperation between the two countries in 1991.
For more than five decades, the Emirati-Omani relations have represented a model for developing relations between brothers, whether at the bilateral level or within the framework of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.
During the past years, the wise leadership in the two brotherly countries has shown strong will and has provided continuous support to advance, deepen and consolidate relations at various levels towards broad horizons that place them in the rank of special and distinguished relations in all fields, which is reflected in a level of distinction and sophistication that rarely characterizes relations between countries.
The Joint Higher Committee for Cooperation between the Emirates and Oman, based on the desire of both countries to develop and enhance effective cooperation and maximize mutual and common interests in various fields, started its first meeting in November 1991, and its interest included the following areas of cooperation: automated linkage through land ports, land transport of passengers and goods Financial markets, consumer protection, marine environment protection, electrical interconnection, civil aviation, civil service, civil defense… in addition to the educational and health fields.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum expressed the depth of this fraternal relationship, which is deeply rooted in the hearts of the two peoples, by saying: “Oman is from us and we are among them.
What unites us with Oman is not only decades of official relations, but also that we have an ocean of civilization steeped in history.
We were an essential part of the Ya’ariba state that ruled the oceans before the seas and rivers, so its naval fleets roamed the world’s continents, and ruled on land and at sea, and the offices of its sultans were held on board the naval fleets and not in palaces on land.. That is why some historians called it “the Ya’ariba Empire”, In its time, it competed with the British Empire and the French Kingdom in their places of influence, and it managed the policy of geopolitical balances in the region according to the balance of common interests with the two superpowers of their time, namely Britain and France.
It is a dimension that extended to the period of the Trucial States of the Coast, and until the establishment of the United Arab Emirates at the hands of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace, and then during the reign of the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace, where the durability of The Emirati-Omani relationship has reached the level of strategic partnership in the political, economic, social and cultural fields. And here is His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and through his current visit to the Sultanate, he is completing the course of the blessed brotherly relations, emphasizing the ancient past, a rational present and a promising and bright future.
