Two people died in Poland due to strong winds

On the morning of February 19, two people died due to strong winds in Poland. In both cases, trees that fell on cars were the cause, Brigadier General Karol Kerzhkovsky, spokesman for the chief commander of the State Fire Service, said.

“Tragic incidents occurred on the territory of the Wielkopolska Voivodeship in Babi Dwura, Brzozow County and the Lublin Voivodeship of Miedzyrzec Podlaski. In both cases, a tree fell on the car. In addition, three people were injured, including a firefighter,” reported Brigadier Kerzhkovsky Twitter.

In the first case, despite timely medical assistance, the victim did not survive.

Severe storms affected the infrastructure of the entire country. By words Deputy Director of the State Security Center Marek Kubiak, as of 9 am, about 194 thousand consumers were left without power supply.

In January, it was reported about 143 trees that fell in the Kaliningrad region as a result of a storm. On December 19, a bus caught fire in Taganrog as a result of a falling tree. Then the object collapsed on the trolleybus network, which led to a short circuit with subsequent fire. One woman suffered a nose injury.

In Dombai on December 19, 2021, about 190 hotels were left without electricity due to snowfall and a tree falling on a high-voltage line. The problem has spread to some residential buildings in the resort village.
