Two Palestinian experts considered that the proposals presented by US President Joe Biden to end the war in Gaza represent a last opportunity for all parties to prevent escalation and the region’s slide into the crater of an expanded regional war, and most importantly, end the unprecedented humanitarian crisis experienced by the population in the Gaza Strip.
Palestinian political researcher, Ismat Mansour, said that the new proposal came from the highest effective and effective authority, and from here you know the importance of the urgent desire not to expand the war and to end human suffering in the Gaza Strip.
Mansour added in a statement to Al-Ittihad that it is in everyone’s interest to approve the proposed deal, and it is expected that the parties, whether the mediators on the one hand, or Israel and the Palestinian factions on the other hand, will announce their approval of the proposal after the American side confirms work to implement it.
He pointed out that there is an urgent need to resolve the crisis during the coming period and prevent renewed fighting within the framework of implementing the two-state solution, which guarantees regional security in light of a crisis that the world has experienced for more than 8 months and does not wish to see renewed in the coming period.
The war waged by Israel on the Gaza Strip since October 7 has left more than 35,000 dead, while fears of a greater crisis are growing in light of the military escalation in the city of Rafah.
Member of the Revolutionary Council of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Jamal Nazzal, confirmed that the Palestinian leadership is continuing its efforts to achieve two main goals at the present time, which are reaching a permanent ceasefire and initiating the reconstruction process with all its requirements.
Nazzal added in a statement to Al-Ittihad that to achieve these goals, the importance of handing over the crossings to the Palestinian National Authority is highlighted, as stipulated in the crossings agreement signed in 2005.
He considered that this move is necessary to facilitate the movement of goods and humanitarian aid and thus support reconstruction efforts and enhance stability in the region.
White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said yesterday that the United States expects Israel to approve the agreement to end the war in Gaza if the Palestinian factions agree to it.
Kirby added in press statements: “This was an Israeli proposal. We expect that if the factions agree to the proposal, Israel will say yes to it.”
