The Civil Guard has arrested two men this Friday in Cádiz for their alleged involvement in the death of two agents, David Perez and Miguel Angel Gonzalezwho died on February 9 when their boat was hit by a drug boat in Barbate (Cadiz). Both detainees had international arrest warrants, issued since September within the framework of the investigation of this case.
This case is being supervised by the Investigative Court number 1 of Barbate, while the recent arrests complement the one carried out on September 19 in the same town, when Karim El Baqqaliidentified as the pilot of the drug boat. Baqqali, 32, was arrested after months of investigations who pointed to him as the main suspect.
During these seven months, the investigation underwent an important change. In May, investigations ruled out that the drug boat of Francisco Javier MP, known as “Kiko the Goat“, would have been responsible for the fatal crash in Barbate, although it was initially thought that he was responsible.
Based on this new information, the authorities focused on another boat seized in March by the Huelva Civil Guard, south of the beach of Antille. This boat, with 94 bottles of gasoline and damage consistent with the crash, became the main objective of the investigation.
On the drug boat that was seized, the agents identified Karim El Baqqali as the pilot and established that He was accompanied by three other people. This led to the issuance of international arrest warrants for El Baqqali’s companions, including the two now detained.
These arrests constitute a significant advance in the investigation, by clarifying the details about those involved in the incident and consolidating the accusations for the death of the two civil guards in the port of Barbate.
