Economist Sorokina: Russian Armed Forces firefighters may be allowed to retire at age 50
Two categories of Russian citizens may be allowed to retire from the age of 50, reported Director of the Institute of Economics and Finance of the State University of Medicine, Professor Galina Sorokina in a conversation with the Prime agency.
She said that we are talking about teachers of secondary vocational education (SVE) and firefighters of the Armed Forces (AF) of Russia. Currently, the relevant proposals are being discussed in the State Duma, the economist said.
Sorokina explained that now secondary vocational education teachers cannot apply for early retirement based on length of service, like school teachers, since according to the rules for this, at least half of the students must be minors. In colleges and technical schools this is not possible, since even after 9th grade most children are already 16 years old, and by the time they graduate, almost all of them turn 18.
Firefighters working in the RF Armed Forces are placed in an unequal position compared to employees of the state fire service. They do not have early retirement pensions, although army firefighters have to work in the same unfavorable conditions, the professor said.
Previously, pensions for some categories of Russians increased. We are talking about pensioners who celebrated their 80th birthday in May – they will begin to receive an additional payment in the amount of one hundred percent of the fixed part of the pension.
