National Police agents arrested two unrelated men in Yecla, aged 18 and 35, after pretending to have suffered crimes with the intention of hiding or obtaining some financial benefit as a victim.
The first of those arrested, an 18-year-old young man, proceeded to simulate having been the victim of a robbery with violence by reporting that a person had physically attacked him to steal the wallet he was carrying and which contained several documents, including his ID. national identity.
In the second case, a 35-year-old man reported that after parking the company van, they had forced the rear door to steal a briefcase with tools.
After investigations carried out by specialized agents of the National Police, it was found that the complaints made by the two detainees were false, finding out that in the first case they did so in order to save money for the issuance of the national identity document.
In the second case, the complainant reported the recovery of the stolen briefcase when a man called the company where he works stating the place where he had located it. From the investigation carried out, it is clear that the worker reported the theft inside the vehicle for fear of retaliation by the company.
Both detainees, after being released, will have to respond to the Judicial Authority for these events, which will determine the precautionary measures to be adopted, and may face penalties that could range from a 12-month fine to two years in prison.
