Bloomberg: Turkey began investigating the origin of grain on a dry cargo ship under the flag of the Russian Federation
Turkish authorities have launched an investigation into the origin of grain on a dry cargo ship flying the Russian flag, which was detained near the Black Sea port of Karasu. About it informs Bloomberg agency citing Turkish officials.
It is noted that the ship is moored in the harbor, it will remain there until Ankara finds out the origin and movement of the cargo.
The source of the agency said that Turkish officials are cautious about the situation around the dry cargo ship, since the country is acting as an intermediary in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine on corridors for the export of grain.
Bloomberg’s interlocutor specified that a meeting on the grain problem with the participation of Ankara, Moscow, Kyiv and the UN could take place as early as next week.
The fact that a Russian cargo ship, allegedly transporting Ukrainian grain, was detained in Turkey, was stated by Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey Vasily Bodnar.
On July 1, Reuters, citing a source in the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, reported that Kyiv had asked Ankara to detain and arrest a Russian-flagged vessel allegedly carrying Ukrainian grain from Berdyansk.
According to the publication, it was, in particular, about the Kazakhstani dry cargo ship Zhibek Zholy. A representative of the department said that there are about 4.5 thousand tons of Ukrainian grain on board.
