Turkey assessed the prospect of imposing anti-Russian sanctions, writes TASS with reference to Ibrahim Kalin, the representative of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
According to Kalin, Turkey does not plan to impose sanctions against Russia, so that there is an opportunity for dialogue between the countries. The Turkish authorities also believe that the West and the Russian Federation should establish mutually beneficial relations – such as Ankara managed to build with Moscow.
Earlier, Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said that Turkey would maintain good relations with both Russia and Ukraine. The country’s authorities announced that Ankara is ready to host a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky. He noted that the main thing at present is not the place, but the fact of the meeting of the heads of state.
